Treaty 8 Urban Child & Family Services is excited to offer an employment opportunity for a compassionate and dedicated One-On-One Support Worker. Post Majority Support Services (Kîwîtin Acâhkos – Yidah) is a new program that will provide individualized support to First Nations young people aged 18 – 26 as they prepare for independence. The program is designed for youth exiting or leaving care due to having reached the age when mandated or legislated services end and will serve youth aging out of care and who are considered ordinarily resident on-reserve.
Role Overview: Treaty 8 Urban CFS office is hiring a One-On-One Support Worker for Post Majority Support Services program that will be based out of Edmonton. The One-On-One Support Worker position is responsible to provide one-on-one support, assistance and collaboration in an individual-focused approach with young adults. This role will focus on building trust and engagement with young adults. The One-on-One Worker will provide support to young adults in regard to decision making and lifestyle choices that will help build independence and reach goals. The role will support young adults to attend activities, events and outings, attend appointments, and expand social networks and friendships. The role will be required to be flexible and responsible to meet changing needs of services and programs and be adaptable when necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized one-on-one support and assistance to young adults.
- Coordinate, plan, and organize recreational and social activities that promote engagement and growth.
- Offer resources and information in crucial areas such as parenting, culture, budgeting, meal planning, and life skills.
- Assist with application forms for services and programs, offering guidance as young adults navigate through them.
- Promote well-being through an Indigenous worldview, fostering a holistic approach to support.
- Engage and connect with young adults facing challenges in different areas.
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and an ethical perspective.
- Flexibility to travel and adapt to changing needs of services and programs.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma.
- Previous experience as a Youth Worker.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, reliable vehicle with $2 million liability insurance, and a satisfactory 3-year driver’s abstract.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector and Child Intervention (Welfare) Record check (dated within 3 months upon hiring).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Database).
- Familiarity with First Nations communities, culture, and language is an asset.
