Child and Youth Liaison Worker - Edmonton

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and youth? We’re seeking a dedicated Child and Youth Liaison Worker to join our team at Treaty 8 Urban Child & Family Services (CFS) Office. As a Child and Youth Liaison Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring that Treaty 8 children have equal access to culturally appropriate services and support, helping them thrive and reach their full potential.

Role Overview: Reporting to the Child and Youth Liaison Lead, you will be a pivotal figure in implementing the Treaty 8 Urban Child and Family Services curriculum, offering culturally appropriate programs, and conducting engaging sessions within Treaty 8 communities. Your role will encompass a wide range of responsibilities aimed at promoting the well-being of children, youth, and families while building strong connections within the community.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster internal and external relationships to support Treaty 8 programs and services aligned with our organization’s strategic goals.
  • Identify and promote partnership opportunities to enhance communications and messaging regarding our services.
  • Empower Treaty 8 families with children, including those with special or high medical needs, to achieve a balanced quality of life.
  • Engage with children, youth, and families within and beyond Treaty 8 communities.
  • Contribute to the development of the Treaty 8 Urban Child and Family Services Curriculum, incorporating land-based content tailored to each community.
  • Collaborate with the Treaty 8 Urban Child and Family Services team, community partners, and curriculum developers to deliver impactful programs.
  • Build relationships with Elders to ensure the effective delivery of cultural curriculum.
  • Ensure support people are available for engagement sessions and connect participants with appropriate community resources.
  • Contribute to the continuous evaluation and enhancement of our engagement sessions and programs.
  • Prepare materials, equipment, and documentation for sessions, adhering to curriculum guidelines.
  • Promote engagement sessions within on-reserve and off-reserve schools and agencies.
  • Adapt delivery methods to meet the unique needs of each community.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate, Diploma in Child and Youth Care Program or related field.
  • Minimum of two years of community experience working with children, youth, and families with diverse and complex needs.
  • Proficiency in data collection, entry, and report writing.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector and Child Intervention (Welfare) Record Check (within 3 months of hiring).
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license, reliable transportation with $2 million liability insurance, and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Treaty 8 First Nations community, culture, and language (an asset).
